Hi Everyone!
Toffee and her brother, Whiskey, were just puppies when they were dumped at the shelter and separated for the first time. While Whiskey was a happy and outgoing pup, Toffee was overwhelmed by fear. She tried to make herself invisible, flinching at the loud noises and retreating to the back of her kennel. When we got the call to rescue them, we couldn't say no. At the Ranch, Toffee refused to leave the safety of her crate until a kind volunteer gently coaxed her out and sat with her. Reunited with Whiskey and introduced to new friends in the play yard, Toffee began to blossom. With her brother nearby, she felt safe enough to greet other volunteers, snuggling into their laps and sharing sweet kisses while keeping a watchful eye on the other puppies at play.
Over the weeks, Toffee has grown from a timid puppy into a more confident young dog, but her progress depends on the presence of other dogs. She draws her strength from their companionship, watching and mimicking their behavior to navigate the world around her. Without a canine friend, Toffee struggles with anxiety and retreats to her fearful state. When Whiskey was adopted into a loving home, Toffee was able to say goodbye properly, surrounded by the support of her other rescue friends. This sense of security has allowed her to bond with new canine companions and continue her journey toward confidence and trust.
Now, Toffee is ready to find her forever home, one that will provide her with the patience, understanding, and love she needs to thrive. Her ideal family would include another playful and friendly dog to be her emotional anchor and help her feel secure. Toffee thrives in a calm, adult-only environment where she can take her time to adjust and build trust at her own pace. She is a gentle soul who deserves a family willing to give her the stability and companionship she needs. If you think you could be the family Toffee is waiting for, we would love to hear from you and help her find the loving home she deserves.
If you are interested in meeting this dog, please fill out our online application first. Contact us via email at info@coastalK9gsr.org. The minimum adoption donation ranges from $300 to $400. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible. Prior to placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are usually microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis.
