NAGO is a 4-year old Japanese Akita mix and one of our “honorary GSD’s.” One of NAGO’s very favorite volunteers has spent a lot of time with him since he’s been at the Ranch and has some valuable insights to share about this special dog for anyone who would be interested in adopting him.
.
NAGO is a very proud to be a dog of the Noble Kind. You can see it in his eyes and the way he carries himself. This is a dog that wants to be respected and trusted first, and in return will offer wonderful companionship and affection. One cannot rush to demand love and attention from a dog like this, especially if he does not even know you. But patience has great rewards. Read on….
.
To make that connection with NAGO, it starts with trying to understand who he is deep inside. Once he understands that you are making an effort to understand him, the communication lines are wide open.
.
As he realizes he can trust you to respect and communicate with him, he will willingly give you what you wish from him with no questions asked. The playfulness and joy that are so much a part of NAGO begin to surface and you will see the huge smile that transforms his face, and his sideways running play bows that he offers as a greeting.
.
NAGO loves to go on hikes and adventures to see and sniff the great outdoors, and yet his energy demands are moderate. He wants to be able to experience the world, but then take a nap. Of special note, we have noticed that NAGO especially likes men! Maybe he sees in men the kind of energy he wishes to share his life with. A kind of buddy he longs for.
.
NAGO has been patiently waiting for that special person to come and provide him a loving home where he can live out the rest of his days. He has much to offer someone who understands him. If you think you have the right home for NAGO, let us know!
